Chirk AAA 1-2 Borras Park Albion
Chirk suffered a 2-1 home defeat against
strugglers Borras Park Albion. The visitors were well worthy of their win
with them recording only their second league away win all season. Chirk
started the stronger of the two sides with them dominating play for the
opening 10 minutes of the game. Forwards Joe and Gareth Roberts caused the
Borras defence a number of problems with their constant probing runs.
Borras gradually got themselves into the game and started to play some
attractive football. Midfielders Gareth Jones and Joe Garner increased in
confidence as the game progressed with them constantly looking to thread the
ball through to Roberts and Kavanagh upfront. Chirk's Joe Roberts found
himself swamped by a host of defenders every time he got within the area,
with Chirk's best chance of the half falling to Anthony Jones whose long
range effort Borras keeper Jones just managed to tip over his own
crossbar. Borras took the lead on 30 minutes through Mark Roberts, with the
striker twisting and turning in the Chirk area to fire low past Valentine.
Chirk's Gareth Roberts narrowly headed wide off a Matty Evans corner in the
dying seconds of the first half. The second period saw Chirk trying to wear
down the Borras rearguard, with Joe Roberts and Dean Riley both missing
chances early on. Borras were awarded a penalty on 75 minutes after Chirk's
Chris Hughes brought down Dale Hill when clean through. Hill converted to
put his side two goals in front and on coarse for all three points. Chirk
managed to grab a consolation goal back through youngster Dean Riley on 88
minutes but it proved to be to little to late. This was Chirk's first home
defeat since November.
Chirk's next game is at home to Castell AC on
Saturday 21st April with a 2.30 pm KO.
