HAPPY DAY FOR BOTH CHIRK TEAMS
W.N.L. Premier Division
Chirk AAA 3-1 Rhos Aelwyd
Chirk recorded their third straight win against
last seasons champions Rhos Aelwyd. This was sweet victory over a Rhos side
that only last month inflicted a 6-0 cup defeat over the Holyhead Road
side. Chirk led 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals from leading scorer
Gareth Roberts and defender Andrew Roberts. Rhos almost got themselves back
into the match when one of their players collided with Chirk's Chris Evans
in the area following a corner, with the referee awarding a penalty. Rhos
striker Eryl Roberts took the resulting spot-kick which was a comfortable
save for Chirk keeper Valentine. Rhos did manage to pull a goal back on 70
minutes to keep the home side on their toes. The game was sealed courtesy
of Chirk's Chris Evans who unleashed a stinging 25 yard shot which rattled
off the crossbar and into the net for his first goal of the season.
Chirk have called off their game next week due to
their Welsh Youth Cup (under 19) game at Llansantffraid against T.N.S. on
Sunday 25th, 2.00 pm KO. Chirk are taking a supporters bus to the game.
W.N.L. Division Three
Gresford Colts 3-4 Chirk Reserves
Chirk Reserves carved out one of their best
results of the season beating the much fancied Gresford Colts. Despite
going a goal behind on only 5 minutes the 'Colliers' kept on battling to
finally take all three points. Chirk Manager Leyton Collings was ecstatic
with the result claiming " I knew we could get a result here today, I'm
proud of my players, we can beat any team in this division when we put our
minds to it" Chirk's goalscorers were Adam Bradshaw, Colin Bagnall, Jamie
Foulkes and Mike Churwood.
Next week the reserves are home to Hawarden
Reserves, 2.00 pm KO.
