W.N.L. Premier Division:
Penycae 3-1 Chirk AAA
Chirk lost 3-1 when they travelled to in-form side Penycae. The home side could
boast a nine match unbeaten run including eight straight victories. The game got
off to the worst possible start for Chirk when midfielder Paul Douglas Jones was
red carded within the first 10 minutes of play for dissent. Chirk matched the
home side first half despite being a man down and were well pleased with
themselves as the half time whistle blew. Penycae took the lead early in the
second period with Chirk forward Anthony Jones replying with a blistering 30
yard effort. With only 10 minutes remaining Penycae struck twice to dash any
hopes that the visitors had of securing a point.
Chirk have no fixture next Saturday but play the annual Den Lloyd/Tom Ellis
Charity match for Nightingale House Hospice at Holyhead Road. Kick off is at
10.30am with the Over 30's playing the Under 30's, with the second half open to
all comers. This will be followed by a Sports Quiz in the AAA Club House.
W.N.L. Division Three.
