Chirk Reserves 4-3 Coedpoeth Reserves

Chirk got back to winning ways with a narrow victory over visitors Coedpoeth.  Chirk were leading 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Matthew Potts and Ian Baker.  On 55 minutes Chirk added their third courtesy of Dean Riley, with Coedpoeth's Ian Rowson hitting back to narrow the lead minutes later.  Chirk's Baker got himself on the score sheet for the second time on 70 minutes, with the midfielder celebrating his return to football after a lengthy lay-off.  Temper's frayed on 72 minutes with a Coedpoeth midfielder and Chirk's Hughes coming to blows in the centre circle with a cluster of players getting involved.  Hughes received a harsh straight red card for the tussle.  Coedpoeth refused to give in and scored their second through Steve Hunt who punished the Chirk rearguard for some slack defending on 78 minutes.  Chirk were now on the back foot with the visitors applying all the pressure.  Chirk keeper Griffiths was judged to have brought down a visiting forward with the referee awarding Coedpoeth a penalty.  Forward Rowson tucked away the spot kick to score his sides third which set up a tense finish with Chirk managing to hang on to all three points.
